let's talk

Frem Group Sustainability

Caring for our environment today, and tomorrow.

Frem are committed to creating a better environment, and wherever possible, we aim to manufacture products using recyclable materials, or those with a valid chain of custody certification. Sustainable development has always been an integral part of our design process, and we actively look for new ways to cut down waste, save energy and reduce our carbon footprint.

As well as constantly reviewing our practices, to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible, we use minimal packaging, and all pallets are reused. Waste steel is recycled, and we burn waste wood in our certified carbon neutral biomass boiler, which heats our buildings.

As a British company, we are passionate about sourcing British materials wherever possible. We work hard to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, by running two manufacturing plants, to serve the north and south of England. Our two bases mean we keep transport to a minimum, resulting in a lower environmental impact.

Because our products are high quality, they are durable enough to last many years, so landfill is significantly reduced. We use sustainable materials as much as possible, and work in partnership with suppliers who adhere to sustainable practices, meaning they don’t contribute to the destruction of the world’s forests.

Our manufacturing process: minimises waste protects drainage reduces energy use and uses energy efficient processes recycles solvents recycles over half of the packaging waste uses a machinery renewal programme to make sure we are always moving towards more energy efficient production.

Our staff are committed to a better environment too, and use Frem Group Technology to minimise energy use. For example, our hard drives are all housed in externally-vented storage cupboards, instead of beneath desks. This means our air conditioning doesn’t have to work as hard, saving energy. Frem Group Technology can deliver up to 2000 Kwh savings, per PC, per year!

Did you know? When a PC is left on standby, it still uses around 70% of the power it takes when it’s switched on! Frem’s unique remote control technology ensures all our PCs are switched off, saving energy every night.

Our headquarters holds a BREEAM* (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) ‘Very Good’ rating, which we are extremely proud of. BREEAM is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method, which aims to inspire developers and creators to innovate and make the best use of resources. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design.
